DogGone Right! Pet Dog Obedience Training
and Behaviour Counselling

At DogGone Right! we focus on teaching dog owners how to communicate with their dog, creating an unbreakable bond between them and their 4-legged companions.

Your dog will learn obedience and good manners, through humane training methods and motivational rewards. We find out and use what motivates your dog, from lure (treats/food) reward, clicker training, to praise, play, toys and games.

Our Promise to You

"We will treat you and your dog with respect. We will not bully your dog by yelling at them, hitting them or jerking/popping on their leash."

Our classes take you and your dog from Puppyhood to Advanced Obedience.

Our Puppy Learn & Play class is designed for puppies between 9-18 weeks of age and focuses on socialization through game play. Each game we play with you and your puppy has an obedience element to it. Your puppy MUST complete classes by 18 weeks of age for large breed and 20 weeks for small breed (under 20 lbs).

In our Basic obedience class puppies over the age of 4 months or adult dogs with no previous training or needing a refresher course will learn the basics of Sit, Down, Stand, Coming when Called, Stay, Walking on a Loose Leash, Leave It and Drop It.

At the Intermediate and Advanced levels we expand upon those already learned skills mentioned above and continue to work with you and your dog to improve your dog's responses in a group environment and around distractions and eventually focusing on developing more off leash skills.

If you are looking for something fun for both you and your companion dog to do come join us for our Recreational Agility classes. You will learn how to guide your dog through jumps, tunnels, weave poles, plus climb the A-frame.

Delve in to the world of Sport classes with your dog. DogGone Right! is thrilled to bring the great world of Rally Obedience classes.

Looking for something new how about trying out the new sport of Sport Scent Detection classes, teach your dog, and yourself the basics of scent detection.

Still not sure what Sport you want to try. DogGone Right can help with that too, with our Sport Sampler class this could be an entry point into competitive dog sports or simply a fun activity for you and your dog.

Training Tip 1

Focus a little more time on the weaker areas in your training sessions. We tend to spend more time on the exercises that our dog finds easy, such as 'Sit' and 'Down' and less on exercises our dogs (or us) are struggling with, like walking on a loose leash. Encourage your dog through verbal praise to improve reliability on difficult exercises.

Puppy House Training »

Puppies do not arrive in our homes with the knowledge that the nice soft carpet or the clean hardwood floors are not their personal toilet areas, so don't keep it a secret on where the appropriate area is. In this article you will learn the Do's and Don'ts of housetraining your puppy and teach your puppy to 'go potty' outside within a short period of time.

Letters of Recommendation

"When we adopted our first dog, Margaret was the trainer recommend by our Vet. We left DogGone Right obedience classes fully trained (all of us!). Later, Margaret provided advice to us when we needed some help with our dog's behaviour problems. Her customer service is excellent, and she truly knows and loves working with dogs! I would highly recommend her."
Karen Watson, Owner of Franklin

"Luna had many issues that made life with her anything but a walk in the park...
I followed the same training techniques I used with my previous Husky, I took Luna to obedience classes, and I consulted a behaviour specialist and nothing worked.
Margaret has been working with Luna and I for about 4 months now.
The changes in Luna's behaviour started being noticeable after only a couple of sessions, and at this point, 4 months later, I feel I have a completely different dog!
I am extremely grateful to Margaret for all the help and support she has given us! Life with Luna was a nightmare before, but I never wanted to give up on her. Finally, I now feel I have started building a healthy relationship with her!"
Romina Gorer, Owner of Luna
